WELCOME HOME
142 JOHN AVE.
Where the Word dwells in ordinary life.
Come in. There’s room.
This is a little house made of words, photographs, memories, and ordinary days.
Leave your shoes by the door.
Make yourself at home.
There are biscuits on the table and warm milk in the kitchen.
You don’t have to see everything today.
Wander from room to room, open whatever door catches your eye, and stay wherever you feel comfortable.
Here’s the floor plan:
WHY 142 JOHN AVE.?
142 is a quiet nod to John 14:2:
“In my Father’s house are many rooms.”
And John Ave. is a small tribute to the Gospel of John—the book that begins with the Word and tells of a God who chose to dwell among us.
That is what I hope this place can be:
a house with many rooms, where the Word finds its way into ordinary life.
THE LIVING ROOM
Photos
The brightest room in the house.
This is where everyday life gathers — photographs, fleeting moments, places I’ve been, people I love, and bits of light I wanted to keep.
Sometimes there are stories attached.
Sometimes a photograph says enough on its own.
Take a seat by the window and look around.
THE STUDY
Essays
A quieter room, with papers scattered across the desk.
This is where thoughts slowly become words — about life, love, motherhood, faith, belonging, growing older, and the questions I haven’t quite figured out yet.
Some thoughts leave with an answer.
Some stay unfinished.
You’re welcome to sit with them awhile.
THE LIBRARY
Reviews
Books on the shelves, films still playing somewhere in my mind.
These aren’t always reviews in the traditional sense.
They’re more like notes left in the margins — passages I underlined, scenes I couldn’t forget, and stories that followed me home.
Pick something from the shelf.
Maybe you’ll find something worth carrying with you.
THE TABLE
Psalms
The heart of the house.
A place for Scripture, prayer, faith, doubt, gratitude, and the quiet ways God meets us in ordinary life.
Some days the table is full.
Some days there are only a few crumbs.
Either way,
there is always a seat for you.
THE ATTIC
Archives
Up the stairs, behind a door that doesn’t get opened every day.
Old writings, short stories, memories, unfinished thoughts, forgotten notes, and pieces of another season live here.
Not everything has been polished.
But some things become more precious simply because they survived.
Open a box if you’d like.
There is no right way to explore this house.
Stay in the Living Room.
Get lost in the Library.
Sit quietly at the Table.
Climb up to the Attic.
Or simply wander.
Find a room you like,
and stay as long as you’d like.
The biscuits are yours.
